BLPOA ELECTIONS 2018

First, a letter from our President.


Dear Belleau Lake Membership,

It’s that time of year again.  The kids start back to school, the days get a bit shorter and cooler and the snowbirds start their plans to head south.  It’s always sad to see the summer end, but I feel we had a great summer at the lake.

It’s also time for our Annual September meeting and elections.  I have decided not to run this year but wanted to take a minute to thank everyone.  It was an interesting couple of years as President.  When I was first elected, I ended up getting a promotion at work that put me on the road a lot.  Then my Dad was diagnosed with cancer.  It’s always tough in a volunteer position like this because life has to be your first priority.  I was lucky enough to be surrounded by such an amazing group on the board and everyone stepped up to help.  I would like to personally recognize the board for all they have done for this Lake and for me personally.  They are amazing people.

This year you will make the decision as to who is elected.  Please take the time to know who is running and please take the time to vote.  If you cannot be at the upcoming meeting, please fill out an absentee ballot.  As times change and the community gets bigger, it will be so important that the board takes care of this entire community.  

If you can, volunteer!  I know that I have had the pleasure of meeting new people and making new friends by being part of this board.  Consider running!  If you can’t run, consider volunteering to help with an activity or event.  It is very rewarding.

I hope you all have an amazing fall and winter.  Thank you all for trusting in me to do the right thing for this community.  It has been an amazing experience and I am excited to see the great things happening here.  My best to you all!

Next, a message from our Secretary.


Nominations for open BLPOA board positions will begin on August 13 and close on August 28, 2018, @11:59 PM.  The following 8 positions are available for the upcoming election.

 

President                     2-year term

Treasurer                     2-year term

Asst. Treasurer           2-year term

Asst. Secretary           2-year term

Milfoil Director           2-year term

Communications       2-year term

Beaches                      2-year term

Keys                             2-year term


All interested parties in any of the above positions must reply by email to the Secretary (secretary@blpoa.com), beginning August 13, 2018, and prior to midnight, August 28, 2018.  All members in “good standing” can run for any of the above-mentioned positions.


ELECTION PROCESS

  1. The nomination process for open BLPOA positions will begin August 13, 2018, and close on August 28, 2018, at 11:59 PM.

  2. Only nominees in “Good Standing” will be entered on the ballot.

  3. All ballots will have an option to write in a nominee who must be in “Good Standing” for an open position.  If a write-in nominee wins said position, the secretary will confirm acceptance of that position.  If a write-in nominee denies said position, it will be awarded to the runner-up.

  4. Member(s) paying their dues by check the day of the meeting may vote, normal practice, but will be excluded from accepting a position as a write-in nominee.

  5. Only one vote may be cast per family, and your vote will only be valid if you are a member in “Good Standing”.

  6. A checklist will be used reflecting all members currently in “Good Standing”.  If you are not such a member, your vote will not be counted.

  7. All ballots will be counted and confirmed by the Secretary and one BLPOA member not holding any position within the BLPOA Board.

  8. Absentee ballots will be accepted with prior approval of the Secretary to any member in good standing.  To request to vote by absentee ballot, send an email to the Secretary at secretary@blpoa.com.  You will receive an absentee ballot via email.  All absentee ballots must be delivered to the Secretary by 6:00 PM on the 31st of August in a sealed envelope.  Absentee ballots will be counted at the general membership meeting.

  9. All results will be posted the day of the election, Saturday, September 1, 2018.

SECTION II:  GOOD STANDING

A member shall be deemed to be in good standing and entitled to vote at any meeting, if and only if, he/she shall have fully paid all dues and assessments made or levied against him by the Board of Directors, together with all the interest and costs chargeable to him/her before the meeting is called to order.
