1) Definition: 
Ice Out is official when when posted to the BLPOA Group on Facebook by the Admin and notice has been sent via email to those on BLPOA email lists from communications@blpoa.com.  That will happen only when Judges inform me that they have determined a boat may navigate open water from the south end of Island (in the north part of the lake) to the north entrance or mouth of "the narrows" (between the north and south parts of the lake).  This does not mean -through- the narrows; but to the entrance of the narrows.

2) Elegibilty:
a.) Only ONE entry per BLPOA Dues Paying Household is permitted, regardless of the number of properties owned.  In the event of multiple entries, only the first will be recorded.

b.) The BLPOA Dues Paying Household must be in "good standing" (BLPOA Treasurer records indicate Membership Dues are current). Selections received from non-members and members not "in good standing" at the time of the submission email will be discarded.

3) Judges Responsibility:
a.) Judges will check the lake twice daily.  Once in the morning (AM) and once afternoon (PM); this may take place at any time in the AM and PM that is most convenient for them.

b.) Judges will notify me of the "ice out" date (as defined above) and whether it was found during their AM check or PM check.

4) How to Enter:
a.) Click the Ice Out Selection Page (linked at the bottom of this page) to view dates and morning (AM) or afternoon (PM) availability. Make your selections from available dates and AM or PM designations.

b.) Review the sample email text below. Use it as a template for the information to provide in your submission (it is recommended to copy & paste the sample email below into the body of your email and overtyping the sample information in it with your own prior sending).

c.) There is a 21 day window for Ice Out Challenge submissions. Submissions recieved earlier than 9:00 AM, Monday, February 16th or later than 9:00 AM, Monday, March 9th (as shown by the inbox time stamp) will NOT be accepted; nor will any selection submitted on the day of Ice Out.

d.) About 24 hours after submitting your selections by email, visit the Ice Out Selection page to ensure one of them has been recorded for you. Please submit a new selection if none of your selections were recorded for you on it.

6) How Your Selection Is Entered:

a.) Submission will be checked and validated (as shown in the sample above and is from BLPOA Dues Paying Household in "good standing") daily.

b.) Email selections will be reviewed, validated and recorded in order received (time stamp) in the Ice Out Challenge email inbox.

​​​​

c.) Your 1st selection will be recorded to you if it is available.

​​​​

d.) Your 2nd or 3rd selection will be recorded to you if your first or second selection has already been recorded to someone else.

e.) None of your selections will be recorded to you if all 3 have been previously recorded to others. You are encouraged submit a new entry with the same format including 3 new selections from those available as shown on the Ice Out Selection page.​ It is up to you to determine if your submission has been successfully recorded to you or not. ​

7) Winners:

The person with the selection ON or CLOSEST to the ice out DATE and AM or PM designation WITHOUT being LATER - will be the 1st place winner. Subsequent "places" will be the next earliest. The only time a winner will be after ice out is if there were not enough selections made before the ice out date.  In this situation, the next closest selection(s) after ice out will be the next place winner(s).

8) Prizes:

Gift certificate prizes from area establishments will be announced when obtained and will be awarded to as many winners as we have prizes.  Winners will have their choice of prize from those remaining based on coming in 1st, 2nd or 3rd place.

9) Final Thoughts:

I have tried to anticipate the variables that could impact this year's Ice Out Challenge with these rules.  Ultimately, this is just a game designed to have a little fun - with some prizes. To that end, my decision - based on judge's input - will be final in the event of any unforeseen circumstances in the game.  Good luck to all participants!
